Bushmills 21 Year-Old Single Malt 2004 Edition
Essentially a small batch release every year, the Bushmills 21 is matured bourbon and sherry casks for a total of around 19 years, before being finished off in Madeira casks to take it past its 21 birthday... This one was bottled in 2004, so it was distilled in the early 1980s. The packaging has changed since this was released, but it's more or less the same recipe. It's the oldest regular distillery bottling available.

    This started off being distilled at the old Tullamore Distillery in County Offaly before being aged for an incredible 44 years. The barrel it came from had been purchased by Willie Napier who owned the Central Bar in Lisburn. It lay forgotten about for many years before being bottled in 1989. We now have the very last few bottles of it. It display the dusty old pot still character of typical whiskeys of this vintage, along with some nice vanilla and spice...

    Mostly sold out before it even reached the shops, this whiskey from an undisclosed Irish distillery (Bushmills...) was doube distilled and peated, spending 27 years in the cask. Oodles of exotic fruits, marshmallow, aniseed, spice, dark chocolate.....
