Titanic 5 Year-Old Irish Whiskey
Peter Lavery is a former bus driver who landed the British Lottery in 1996 and went about building a whiskey empire. The brand is named after the passenger ship that struck an iceberg and sank on the the way from Cobh in Cork to America in 1912. Over 1,500 people perished. Lavery has also invested some of his growing fortune in the Crumlin Road Gaol, a Victorian era prison that housed paramilitary prisoners during the Troubles. He's turning it into a distillery. This is another bourbon cask matured whiskey distilled in Riverstown, Co Louth. Because of the supply contract with Cooley, it is being replaced with a four-year-old version.
